ASL Travel Squad
WHAT IS THE ASL TRAVEL SQUAD?
The ASL Travel Squad is our training year-round training groups, where athletes have made the decision that swimming is a top priority outside of school and family. Depending on the age, athletes will train 3-7 workouts per week, and compete in 1-2 meets per month, advancing through our program, Georgia Swimming, the Southern Zone, and up the USA Swimming competition ladder over the years.

HOW TO MOVE THROUGH THE PROGRAM?
- Athletes must be attending the minimum # of training sessions per week of the next group for 2 months BEFORE moving up
- Athletes must be willing to commit to the longer training sessions and higher volume of the next group
- Athletes must have achieved the Skill, Racing, Training and Process phases of the group they are in.
WHY?
- With any move up, the athletes will be challenged with harder workouts, with more volume. We want them to be able to focus on adapting to JUST that change With these requirements, they will already be adapted to the Frequency, and Training/ Performance levels.
WHEN?
- Athletes in the Travel Squad can move up at the start of a season (typically mid-August, mid-December, mid-April)
Training/Performance Levels
In order to have more clear, focused training with a progression of skills geared towards developing athletes that will excel in their later years, building on a strong foundation... First, we learn to
DO IT RIGHT, with a Skill Development Path, then we learn to
DO IT FAST, with a Racing Development Path, and to get the most out of their potential, we learn to
DO IT MORE, with a Training Development Path. And then, we begin transferring the ownership of their sport back to the athletes so they can
DO IT FOR THEMSELVES, with the Process Development Path.
Each level has a series of training focuses and competitive events that will guide their training. They’ll continue to work on the levels they’ve already completed, but will integrate the next level tasks and events as a primary focus. A full breakdown of the skills needed to progress will be easily accessed through your account upon registration, so coaches, athletes and parents are on the same page with what needs to be worked on, and keeping the focus on the skills they need to accomplish.
