Heba Fouitah Becomes First CSRA Swimmer Selected for USA Swimming’s Prestigious National Select Camp

Aiken-Augusta Swim League standout Heba Fouitah has been invited to participate in USA Swimming’s prestigious 2025 National Select Camp, a recognition reserved for the nation’s top up-and-coming swimmers. The camp will be held at the United States Olympic and Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado, with sessions scheduled for October 9-12 for boys and October 23-26 for girls.

Fouitah, a rising star from Augusta, Georgia, earned her spot through exceptional performances in Long Course Meters competitions and IMX Power Point rankings. Her selection places her among 104 elite athletes nationwide who will receive advanced training and education designed to mirror the experience of a National Team swimmer.

“We are extremely proud to have Heba Fouitah representing the ASL at the 2025 National Select Camp,” said Aiken-Augusta Swim League Head Coach, Greg Gillette. “This honor reflects the hard work they put into training and is the next step toward their life-long dream of representing the United States at international competitions. Heba is the first athlete from the CSRA to achieve this milestone."

During the three-day camp, 52 boys and 52 girls will engage in a comprehensive program that includes post-race recovery techniques, psychological training, nutrition, race strategy, and education on USA Swimming Safe Sport and anti-doping policies. Past attendees of the National Select Camp include Olympic champions such as Katie Ledecky, Bobby Finke, Lilly King, and Michael Andrew.

How Athletes Are Selected

Swimmers are chosen based on the following criteria:

  • Top three athletes in each event based on Long Course Meters rankings from January 1 to August 31, 2025.
  • Six male and six female athletes with the highest individual IMX Power Point scores during the same period.
  • Top two open water athletes in the 5K and 7.5K events from the 2025 USA Swimming Open Water Junior Nationals.
