Jen Mihalik continues to shape Masters backstroke. She trains with Aiken‑Augusta Swim League and races often at USA Swimming meets. Her results over the past year place her among the top Masters swimmers in the world.

Jennifer broke the Masters World Record in the 100m backstroke at the Augusta Parks and Rec Blue Tides Masters Meet in August 2025. The swim set a new mark for her age group and drew wide attention across Masters swimming.

At ASL’s Southeastern Meet Of Champions(SMOC), she broke her own National Masters record in the 100y backstroke. She now holds the top three times in that event for the 45‑49 age group. She also holds nine USMS National records in backstroke events.

Jen’s work with Aiken‑Augusta Swim League keeps her sharp in both short course and long course racing. She competes often at USA Swimming meets and posts steady results in backstroke, IM, and sprint free. Her impact reaches beyond Masters racing. Recently, Jennifer was selected for the Clemson Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2025. Clemson honored her for her career as a student athlete and her long record of success in the pool.

Mihalik was one of Clemson’s most decorated swimmers. She won the ACC title in the 100 backstroke in 1999 and the ACC title in the 200 backstroke in 1998 and 1999. Her work in those seasons placed her among Clemson’s top swimmers and set the base for her long run in the sport.

The Hall of Fame honor marks her influence on Clemson and her continued presence in swimming. She joins a class that includes All‑Americans, national champions, and leaders across Clemson athletics.

Jen’s recent swims show the same drive she had in college. From a world record in the 100m back to a new national mark in the 100y back, she continues to move the standard for Masters backstroke. Her training with ASL and her steady race schedule keep her at the front of her field.

For swimmers in the region, Jennifer offers a clear model. She trains with purpose, races with focus, and stays active in the sport. Her results show what long‑term work can produce.

Aiken‑Augusta Swim League is proud to support her training and celebrate her success. Jen’s record list, her Clemson Hall of Fame honor, and her presence at meets across the year place her among the most accomplished Masters swimmers in the country.

ASL Swimmers Shine at 2026 GHSA State Swimming Championships

Aiken Augusta Swim League athletes delivered standout performances at the Georgia High School State Championships with 68 percent lifetime bests, a 90 percent finals rate, and multiple All‑American consideration swims. Read the full ASL recap and championship highlights.

ASL continues to build momentum as the team heads into Georgia 14 & Under Age Group State Championships over the next two weekends. Before shifting focus to the younger squad, it is worth celebrating the outstanding performances from twenty-one ASL athletes who competed at the 2026 Georgia High School State Championships. Their results reflect not only individual excellence but the depth and consistency of the program.

           Remarkable Consistency and Breakthrough Performances

Head Coach Greg Gillette shared two standout statistics that capture the level of execution on the big stage. Sixty‑eight percent of all swims were lifetime bests, demonstrating that ASL athletes continue to rise when it matters most. Even more impressive, ninety percent of all entries earned a second swim. Two of the four swims that did not advance were first alternates, showing just how close ASL was to perfection across the board.

The meet results highlight numerous time drops across divisions. Among the standout performers was Miles Patillo, who delivered a 1:56.28 in the 200 IM to finish fourth, dropping more than three seconds from his previous best time. Ethan Harkins cut more than seven seconds in the 500 Free with a 5:15.78 swim. Jonah Petersen delivered strong improvements in both the 200 IM and 100 Breaststroke. Across the divisions, ASL athletes produced strong improvements and finals appearances. Hudson Villemain posted a 1:54.91 in the 200 IM and a 51.69 in the 100 Back, hitting personal bests in both. Riley Opalka, Bryce Douglas, Heba Fouitah and several others produced multiple lifetime bests, with many swimmers advancing well beyond their seeded positions.

A State Title and All‑American Consideration Times

One of the defining moments of the meet came in the Division 5A girls 400 Free relay. Allie Jost, Grace Gambrell, Taylor Marchan, and Heba Fouitah combined for a winning time of 3:30.60. Their splits of 52.12, 53.83, 56.00, and 48.61 secured the state championship and showcased the strength of ASL’s top female athletes.

Several swims also achieved All‑American consideration standards. Allie Jost’s 100 backstroke, Heba Fouitah’s 100 Butterfly, and 200 IM all reached the national recognition threshold. These swims reflect the high‑performance environment ASL athletes bring to their high school seasons.

Building Toward the Next Championship Stage

With high school state now complete, the focus shifts to the upcoming Georgia 14 & Under Age Group State Championships. The momentum from the high school athletes sets a strong tone for the younger swimmers preparing to compete. Their teammates have shown what is possible when preparation meets opportunity, and the program is positioned for another successful championship run.

Aiken Augusta Swim League continues to demonstrate that its athletes are among the most competitive and well‑prepared in the region. The combination of lifetime bests, championship titles, and national‑level standards underscores the strength of the program as the team enters the next phase of the championship season.

The Aiken-Augusta Swim League (ASL) is celebrating a monumental moment as swimmer Heba Fouitah sets a new Georgia state record in the 13-14 Girls 400y IM. Her performance took place at the SwimStrong Elite Camp, held in Fishers, Indiana. A five day intensive training experience designed for top-tier athletes. The camp culminates in the Elite Camp Meet on the final afternoon, where the best come to compete.. and Heba delivered.

Heba clocked an official time of 4:19.55, edging out the previous GA State record of 4:19.86, set by Tristen Ulett back in 2016. This record had remained untouched for nearly a decade, until now.

Heba's swim wasn't just a win, it showcased the competitive edge and training excellence that ASL instills in its athletes.
