ASL Swimmers Shine at 2026 GHSA State Swimming Championships

February 11, 2026

ASL continues to build momentum as the team heads into Georgia 14 & Under Age Group State Championships over the next two weekends. Before shifting focus to the younger squad, it is worth celebrating the outstanding performances from twenty-one ASL athletes who competed at the 2026 Georgia High School State Championships. Their results reflect not only individual excellence but the depth and consistency of the program.

Remarkable Consistency and Breakthrough Performances

Head Coach Greg Gillette shared two standout statistics that capture the level of execution on the big stage. Sixty‑eight percent of all swims were lifetime bests, demonstrating that ASL athletes continue to rise when it matters most. Even more impressive, ninety percent of all entries earned a second swim. Two of the four swims that did not advance were first alternates, showing just how close ASL was to perfection across the board.

The meet results highlight numerous time drops across divisions. Among the standout performers was Miles Patillo, who delivered a 1:56.28 in the 200 IM to finish fourth, dropping more than three seconds from his previous best time. Ethan Harkins cut more than seven seconds in the 500 Free with a 5:15.78 swim. Jonah Petersen delivered strong improvements in both the 200 IM and 100 Breaststroke. Across the divisions, ASL athletes produced strong improvements and finals appearances. Hudson Villemain posted a 1:54.91 in the 200 IM and a 51.69 in the 100 Back, hitting personal bests in both. Riley Opalka, Bryce Douglas, Heba Fouitah and several others produced multiple lifetime bests, with many swimmers advancing well beyond their seeded positions.

A State Title and All‑American Consideration Times

One of the defining moments of the meet came in the Division 5A girls 400 Free relay. Allie Jost, Grace Gambrell, Taylor Marchan, and Heba Fouitah combined for a winning time of 3:30.60. Their splits of 52.12, 53.83, 56.00, and 48.61 secured the state championship and showcased the strength of ASL’s top female athletes.

Several swims also achieved All‑American consideration standards. Allie Jost’s 100 backstroke, Heba Fouitah’s 100 Butterfly, and 200 IM all reached the national recognition threshold. These swims reflect the high‑performance environment ASL athletes bring to their high school seasons.

Building Toward the Next Championship Stage

With high school state now complete, the focus shifts to the upcoming Georgia 14 & Under Age Group State Championships. The momentum from the high school athletes sets a strong tone for the younger swimmers preparing to compete. Their teammates have shown what is possible when preparation meets opportunity, and the program is positioned for another successful championship run.

Aiken Augusta Swim League continues to demonstrate that its athletes are among the most competitive and well‑prepared in the region. The combination of lifetime bests, championship titles, and national‑level standards underscores the strength of the program as the team enters the next phase of the championship season.
